President Elected for the American Academy of Periodontology

CHICAGO – (November 1, 2010) – Donald S. Clem, III, DDS, of Fullerton, California was installed as President of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Board of Trustees during its 96th Annual Meeting, held October 29 – November 2, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

An AAP member since 1982, Dr. Clem previously served on the Board of Trustees as President Elect in 2010, Vice President in 2009, and Secretary/Treasurer in 2008. In addition to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Clem has served on multiple Academy Committee’s and Task Forces, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Education Committee, and the Editorial Liaison Committee. He was President of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in 2003. Dr. Clem is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Past President of the California Society of Periodontists.

AAP Honors Award Recipients during Meeting in Honolulu

Academy Awards are given each year for outstanding contributions to the AAP and the profession of periodontics.

CHICAGO—(November 1, 2010)—The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) awarded excellence in the field of periodontology amongst its members at the 96th Annual Meeting, held October 29 – November 2, 2010 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“I am honored to recognize my colleagues that have dedicated so much of their time and efforts to the American Academy of Periodontology,” said AAP President Dr. Donald S. Clem. “This year’s award winners prove that the specialty of periodontics is alive and well. Their achievements should also help to inspire future generations of periodontists.”
