Some people without dental insurance need to do whatever it takes to receive dental care.
That’s why around 3,000 people waited outside a church in the town of Woodstock, Ga. for free dental care last Friday. Some camped out over night to ensure they would receive dental care. Woodstock is about 30 miles north of Atlanta.
Hundreds of dentists volunteered their services over two days to provide dental care for people that couldn’t afford it. It’s important in today’s economy, since many people don’t have dental insurance as they once did.
There were about 1,500 volunteers in total, including both dentists and hygienists. They performed dental procedures on around 2,000 people. Some of the work included extractions, routine cleanings, fillings and root canals.
In Georgia, nearly 320,000 low-income patients have been treated by some kind of free medical clinic in the past year.
