Tulsa, Okla., Feb. 21, 2012: DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties, a producer and marketer of innovative products for endodontics and implant therapy, was pleased to be a Gold Sponsor for the third annual Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) dental clinic Feb. 3-4 in McAlester, Okla.
Presented by the Oklahoma Dental Association, the Oklahoma Dental Foundation and the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation, the two-day OkMOM clinic is designed to meet the critical needs of dental patients of all ages by providing free dental care to as many adults and children as time, volunteers and supplies will allow.
DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties, a Tulsa-based division of the largest professional dental products company in the world, donated $25,000 in cash and $28,000 in dental products that were used to treat the more than 1,700 patients seen at OkMOM 2012.
“The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy falls in line with DENTSPLY International’s companywide focus on improving the oral health of underserved populations through prevention, education, treatment and access,” said Bill Newell, Vice-President and General Manager. “We feel fortunate to help support local efforts to treat those most in need of quality dental care.”
Two DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties employees also served on the ground as OkMOM volunteers. Jayna Maxwell, Meeting Coordinator, is a hygienist and treated patients, while Oneshi Villalobos, Area Meeting Planner, participated as an interpreter.
“It was my honor to represent DENTSPLY, use my talents, and share hugs and tears with patients who dropped their guard and came forward to be cared for,” said Maxwell. “There’s a part in each of us that becomes very complete when we have opportunities to serve in events like Mission of Mercy.”
