TORONTO – Carestream Dental today announced that David Gane, D.D.S., B.Sc. (Hons), vice president of dental imaging for Carestream Dental, will present “Understanding Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT),” at the Journées dentaires internationales du Québec (JDIQ) convention. The presentation will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at 11:30 a.m. in Salle d’Exposition – Le Théâtre.
Dr. Gane will present on the diverse range of applications for CBCT using clinical case studies. The presentation will demonstrate how dental professionals are using CBCT technology to diagnose, plan and execute treatment with the goal of improving treatment outcomes. Attendees will learn about the latest advances in 3D radiographic imaging technologies as well as gain a greater understanding of CBCT dosimetry and risk assessment. Attendees will also receive two hours of continuing education credit for participating in this presentation.
As vice president of dental imaging for Carestream Dental, Dr. Gane is a recognized authority on CBCT, and has authored many publications and technique videos on digital radiography. He has lectured on digital imaging topics nationally at Tufts University, the Goldman Dental School at Boston University, Nova Southeastern University and the Medical College of Georgia, and internationally in Brussels, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manchester and Garmisch. Dr. Gane has also written peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on digital dental imaging and is a frequent contributor in Dental Economics.
“Three-dimensional CBCT imaging provides practitioners with detailed, accurate representations of patients’ teeth, face, jaws and airways,” Gane said. “It’s no wonder that this amazing technology is transforming the way we diagnose, treatment plan and treat patients. With such powerful tools, it’s imperative that we explore advances like CBCT in full so we can better serve our patients, our practices and our profession.”
In addition to Dr. Gane’s presentation, Carestream Dental will showcase the newest additions to its suite of products at JDIQ, including the CS 9300. Featuring multiple fields of view for 3D images, 2D digital panoramic imaging with variable focal trough technology and optional cephalometric imaging, the CS 9300 gives practitioners greater flexibility and the optimum field of view to suit patients’ every diagnostic need. The CS 9300 was approved for sale in Canada in March.
The 2012 JDIQ convention will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, May 25-29.
