Dentists whose primary residences were damaged by Hurricane Matthew can apply for immediate aid up to $2,000 from the ADA Foundation’s Emergency Disaster Grant program to cover urgent personal needs such as lodging, food, clothing, and medicine. Dentists may apply by submitting an application form directly to the Foundation.
Applications can be found by visiting adafoundation.org and entering “emergency disaster” in the search field. Dentists do not need to be ADA members to receive aid. The ADA also offers information on disaster recovery and emergency planning. For details, visitors at ada.org should enter “disaster recovery” into the site’s search engine.
Meanwhile, the ADA Foundation accepts monetary donations for the program. So far in 2016, it has provided more than 17 grants with a total value of $32,500 to help dentists affected by flooding, tornadoes, and other disasters.
