The American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) recognized a trio of dentists with its highest awards during its recently concluded 65th annual conference, held last week in New Orleans.
Art Molzan, DDS, received the Aaron Gershkoff/Norman Goldberg Memorial Award, which is named after the first 2 presidents of the AAID and recognizes outstanding contributions to the organization and to implant dentistry. Molzan works in private practice with an emphasis on implants. He also is an Honored Fellow and a former president of the AAID, serving in 2000. He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry as well.
Sebastiano Andreana, DDS, MSc, received the Isaih Lew Memorial Research Award, which recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to research in implant dentistry. Highly regarded in laser dentistry and implants, Andreana is senior associate editor and reviewer for the Journal of Oral Implantology and serves on the advisory board of the Journal of Laser Dentistry. Also, he serves on the board of directors of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and served as co-chair of the AAID’s Science and Research Committee.
David Gimer, DDS, received the Paul Johnson Service Award, which recognizes outstanding service to the AAID as exemplified by the late Dr. Paul Johnson. Gimer spearheaded the creation of the original and updated versions of the AAID’s Bit of Education program for dental students, leading to more than 1,000 student members joining the organization. He has served on AAID’s committees since 2004 as well, including time as a member of the Board of Trustees representing the Central District.
