Arthur Nimmo, DDS, director of the University of Florida Predoctoral Implant Dentistry Program, has been installed as the 67th president of the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABP). He has served on the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) faculty for 17 years. Also, he is a Diplomate of the ABP, a past president of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), and the recipient of its 2005 ACP Distinguished Service Award.
Last year, Nimmo was recognized as an Alumni of Distinction at the State University of New York, Oneonta, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1975. He received his dental degree from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1979 and completed a specialty residency in prosthodontics at the University of California Los Angeles Center for the Health Sciences in 1983.
Currently, Nimmo serves on the Commission on Dental Accreditation Review Committee on Prosthodontics Education. Prior to his installation as president of the ABP, he served as an examining member and director of the board. He also served as chair of the UFCD Department of Prosthodontics from 1999 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2011.
Furthermore, Nimmo was a consultant to the ADA for the National Board Examination Part II for the Prosthodontics Test Construction Committee and Consultant Review Committee. He also was the commissioner representing the specialty of prosthodontics on the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation from 2001 to 2005.
