Dr. Paul Feuerstein, technology editor for Dentistry Today, presented in the Technology Workshop (row 2600 on the exhibit floor) at the California Dental Association (CDA) meeting on Thursday. He spoke about his personal history with dentistry and music, and his focus was on the latest tech developments in the world of dentistry.
His basis for the presentation was new introductions made earlier this year in Cologne, Germany, at the IDS meeting. Among the highlights were Bausch’s OccluSense electronic articulating paper; Replicate (from Replicate Tooth), which allows ease of implant placement (currently pending US FDA approval); and a new way of seeing from DentLight.
Dr. Feuerstein talked about the daily challenges of practicing dentistry, such as the one patient case where “everything goes wrong.” In treating these patients, he said, technology such as intraoral cameras and CBCT can be helpful.
In addition to interested attendees, the room was filled with companies Dr. Feuerstein speaks about (but, as he clarified, does not work for). Table presentations included Dexis, Anutra Medical, ACTEON North America, Air Techniques, LED Dental, Philips Oral Healthcare, Carestream Dental, and VITA North America. Dr. Feuerstein also will be speaking about digital diagnosis and treatment using 3-D technology with hands-on demonstrations on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., again in aisle 2600.
