The PrepSure line of instruments from ContacEZ monitor and confirm the creation of adequate buccal, lingual, gingival, and occlusal clearance during crown preparation. According to the company, they eliminate a common stressful and time-consuming problem for clinicians and lab technicians alike.

Insufficient reduction on prepared abutments has been historically pervasive, with some reported occurrence rates as high as 80%, ContacEZ reports. Dentists often have had to gauge the amount of clearance prepared with their naked eyes, leading to embarrassing and costly second impressions or thin, structurally weak crowns that were likely to fracture or perforate prematurely.

The three instruments in the PrepSure line are designed to take the guesswork out of crown preparation and ensure the successful fabrication of crowns and onlays. By using the 1.0-mm, 1.5-mm, and 2.0-mm mesial and distal tips, dentists can gauge, monitor, and confirm that sufficient clearance has been achieved, detect where additional reduction is necessary, and avoid unnecessary reduction to preserve healthy tooth structure.

The PrepSure instruments are designed to cover indications for all commonly used crown materials. Each instrument is autoclavable and reusable. For more information, call (360) 694-1000 or visit contacez.com/prepsure.
