A Time for Thanks and Action!

Here at Dentistry Today, it is that time of the year when we prepare to attend year-end meetings (such as the Greater New York Dental Meeting in New York City) along with the daily work related to the publication. This year, as we also prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving and the holidays that follow with co-workers, friends, and loved ones, we are especially mindful that many people in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands have gone, and will still be going through for a long time, some tough times in their efforts to recover from the devastating impact of major hurricanes.

Imagine, for a moment, the stress of suddenly being without electricity or clean water in your practice and/or home for an extended period of time. As a dentist, you know it is impossible to serve your patients without access to those most basic necessities. If we approached everything we do in life being truly thankful each day for everything that we have and everyone who we know are responsible for making our lives and the lives of others better, life might actually take on a new and different meaning. And, more importantly, if we take our thankfulness and energize it into action as a way to express our sincere gratitude for the blessings that we have received in our lives, that thankfulness can transform into help and hope for those in dire need. If you have not already done so, we hope that all of you will consider giving to a charity of your choice to help those who are truly in need as a result of the recent weather-related destruction.

In addition to this month’s excellent clinical articles, our peer-reviewed CE selection (available for 2 FAGD/MAGD CEUs) by Dr. Robert Levine et al talk about the clinical use of the CO2 laser in the treatment of restricted upper lip frena in infants.
