The 34th Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) Scientific Session concluded its education program on April 21 at McCormick Place Lakeside Center in Chicago. More than 1,300 people attended the four days of educational programming, which included 98 speakers, 125 courses, three general sessions, and social events.
AACD 2018’s cosmetic dentistry education program featured a curated selection of topics and speakers purposefully selected to keep attendees ahead of the curve and maximize their continuing education dollars, the AACD reports. The education program consisted of the Complex Case, Accreditation, Lab Focus, and Dental Team collections.
“The educational program was designed to enable attendees to return to their practices to create masterpieces of their own,” said Sten M. Ericson, DDS, chair of the AACD Professional Education Committee.
The AACD also recognized and honored members who have demonstrated their dedication to continuing education and responsible patient care by naming 14 new Accredited Members and four new Accredited Fellows during the scientific session. Other members of the AACD and the profession also were recognized with Celebration of Excellence Awards, known as the Evys.
Social events included the Welcome Reception at the Museum of Science and History, karaoke to raise funds for the AACD Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile program, and the Celebration of Excellence closing reception, which featured a Roaring 20’s theme with period attire and music.
Registration for the 35th Annual AACD Scientific Session, April 24 through April 27 at the San Diego Convention Center, is now open.
