Align Technology has opened a digital treatment planning facility and education center in Madrid, Spain. Portugal and Spain represent the third largest Invisalign market in the world after North America and China, the company says, showing dynamic year on year growth.
The Madrid facility is the second of its kind in Europe and the fourth worldwide. The 3,500-square-meter office will host 185 employees by the end of 2018, which is a significant increase over the 10 employees that Align Technology has employed in Spain since 2013.
“The city of Madrid offers a vibrant ecosystem for innovative companies, while our new facilities support Align’s efforts to offer firsthand local support to Spanish and Portuguese dental professionals,” said Juan Manuel Frade, Align Technology general manager, Iberia.
The Madrid facility will serve as the commercial and operations site for the company’s entire Iberia business. It also will provide Invisalign trained doctors with closer, more personalized support to ensure they can offer improved service, according to Align Technology.
“Our newly opened facility in Madrid is an important step forward in bringing our technology closer to Invisalign doctors in a time of growing demand for clear aligner therapy from both consumers and doctors,” said Emory Wright, senior vice president, global operations.
The facility will be equipped with Align’s proprietary software, which enables customized treatment for each patient. It is part of the company’s $100 million global investment planned for this year.
