The AirClean implant maintenance system from integrated dental systems (ids) offers air polishing with glycine. It is a proven treatment for peri-implantitis, a major cause of dental implant failure, ids reports. The AirClean system is designed to easily attach to the existing handpiece line. Controlled by the chairside foot pedal, it allows the user to deliver 30-µm glycine powder evenly and accurately, the company says.

The glycine formulation is powerful on biofilm yet gentle on all implant surfaces, according to ids. It can be used to treat or prevent peri-implantitis. Also, the AirClean tip design allows users to remove biofilm in sub- and supra-gingival areas faster and easier than any other system, ids says, adding that the ability to provide fast and effective treatment saves valuable chair time and improves patient satisfaction.
