The Washington State Department of Health Dental Quality Assurance Commission suspended the license and moderate sedation permit of Yakima County dentist Charles Gooss, DMD, on March 4, 2019, pending further legal action.
According to the commission, Gooss used excessive amounts of anesthetics on at least 11 patients during multiple tooth extraction procedures and didn’t report that one of his patients was transferred to the emergency room due to bleeding and swelling. Gooss also allegedly used a nonsterile instrument on a patient.
Gooss cannot practice dentistry or administer moderate sedation in Washington until the charges are resolved. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing.
