The Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund is calling upon dental students based in the United States and Canada to submit their ideas, innovations, and inventions to the third annual Shils Stars Dental Student Competition, which will be held on October 16 at the New York University College of Dentistry alongside the seventeenth annual Shils Fund Innovator Awards Ceremony.
Entrants will pitch their submissions to a panel of experts from the dental industry, professional community, and academia. Submissions should aim to resolve a challenge related to patient treatment, a product or service, or dental education or be focused on a dental industry-related humanitarian program.
Four winners will receive cash prizes. The grand prize winner will receive $2,000 in startup project funding. The deadline for submissions is October 7. Entry is available online.
“Our annual Shils Stars competition is an exciting opportunity for healthcare entrepreneurs to engage, motivate, and advance innovation in oral health,” said Steven W. Kess, president of the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund’s board of directors.
“This competition embodies Dr. Edward B. Shils’ vision to inspire, connect, build, and drive innovative and entrepreneurial systems for social good. We encourage dental students across the US and Canada to submit their projects as soon as possible,” Kess said.
