The European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) has launched a new website that enables periodontists, dental professionals, and patients to access information more easily, according to the organization.

For example, the site’s Oral Health & Gum Hub offers science-based information for the general public about the prevention and treatment of gum disease as well as insights into dental implants and the prevention and treatment of peri-implant diseases.

Plus, the Oral Health & Gum Hub features a gum health self-assessment tool and videos for patients that provide instructions in oral hygiene and explanations about periodontal and peri-implant therapy.

The site also features updates about campaigns, news, events, publications, and education as well as a private section for EFP members. Newsletter subscriptions are now available as well, even for people who aren’t dental professionals or members of an EFP-affiliated society.

The site has been optimized for navigation on mobile phones, tablets, and computers as well.

“Our website www.efp.org offers a unique visit experience to our more than 16,000 affiliated society members around the world and to everybody interested in periodontology and implant dentistry, with a special space devoted to non-professionals, who will navigate through a really patient-friendly environment,” said Xavier Struillou, EFP president.

“All in all, this new website allows our different target audiences a new way to look at the EFP and at gum health and gum disease,” said Struillou.

“This new website brings us a new look, a new navigation architecture, and a brighter feel to the website visitor’s experience,” said Tiernan O’Brien, chair of the EFP communications committee.

“We’ve succeeded in getting the right balance between portraying the EFP as a global healthcare institution, an academic body, a resource for patients, a home for a federation of national scientific societies, a news desk, and a working office space for the daily activities of the EFP,” said O’Brien.

“Our challenge was to create a balanced website that would represent all of these aspects of the EFP at the same time,” O’Brien said.
