The Chicago Dental Society (CDS) 156th Midwinter Meeting is going online, with events scheduled Thursday through Saturday, February 25 through February 27, 2021. The CDS notes that 2021 is a continuing education reporting year for Illinois and encourages its members to attend the virtual show so they can stay up to date in meeting their requirements. Registration, which is free for CDS members, begins November 2.
“Every year, CDS brings together nearly 30,000 dentists, other healthcare professionals, and exhibitors from throughout the world. While the camaraderie and connection afforded by an in-person event will be missed, our first and foremost concern is the health and safety of our attendees,” said CDS president-elect Dean P. Nicholas, DDS.
“In an abundance of caution, our board of directors determined that the 2021 Midwinter Meeting ‘Heart of Dentistry’ will be moved to a virtual format,” Nicholas said.
“As essential healthcare workers, CDS dentists are 100% committed to ensuring that they are able to care for their patients. At this time, it is difficult to predict whether a vaccine or treatment for COVID-19 will be widely available. A virtual meeting will still allow for important education and scientific exchange. We are disappointed that we cannot be together in person but look forward to a robust meeting,” he said.
From the comfort and safety of their own homes and offices, the CDS said, attendees will be able to participate in dynamic scientific programs and exhibits with access to renowned clinicians and leaders in dental innovation presenting programs on a variety of topics geared for all members of the dental team. The virtual platform also will let attendees quickly and efficiently navigate between interactive exhibitor booths to explore new products, speak with company representatives, and network with colleagues, the CDS said.
“We understand that our participants, including dentists, their staff teams, speakers, and exhibitors, rely on the annual Midwinter Meeting as a source for the latest research, premier professional education, and cutting-edge innovation in dental products,” said Nicholas. “Connecting dental professionals and manufacturers is more important than ever during this time, and CDS is doing this in the safest way possible.”
