The Kerr Dental ZenFlex NiTi rotary shaping file features high cutting efficiency, an ideal balance between strength and flexibility, and a minimally invasive design, according to the company. It also delivers exceptional resistance to torsional stress and cyclic fatigue while offering the flexibility and controlled memory to accommodate even the most complex canal anatomies, Kerr Dental said.
The proprietary and variable heat treatment technology used in ZenFlex makes these features possible, the company said. Through this heat treat process, ZenFlex can accommodate up to 90° curves. ZenFlex also has exceptional controlled memory to maintain its pre-curved shape to better follow even the most challenging canal anatomies, Kerr Dental said.
In recent comparative tests, ZenFlex delivered greater resistance to cyclic fatigue than other files, resulting in a longer time to failure, according to Kerr Dental. Additional tests showed that ZenFlex is as resistant or more resistant to torsional stresses despite having a smaller maximum flute diameter and smaller mass, the company said.
“In tests conducted by leading endodontist Dr. Stephen L. Buchanan, against other recognized files on the market, ZenFlex did a better job reaching the full working length of severely curved canals,” said Brian Ho, Kerr Dental global product manager.
ZenFlex offers a minimally invasive shaping file option, Kerr Dental said, with a 1-mm maximum flute diameter and a non-cutting tip. Combined, these features help increase control during the root canal procedure and preserve the tooth’s structural integrity, the company said.
