As massive wildfires continue to claim lives, displace families, and destroy businesses and livelihoods across the Western United States, the nonprofit Medical Teams International has partnered with A-dec as well as Reser’s Fine Foods and Regence BlueCross BlueShield to provide critically needed hygiene supplies.

Together, these Oregon companies have provided items for 2,000 Compassion Force hygiene kits for evacuees. However, Medical Teams said, more corporate donations are needed to reach the organization’s commitment of 5,000 kits.

Hygiene kits cost $10 each. They provide enough hygiene items for one month, including shampoo, deodorant, floss, adhesive bandages, and a washcloth. Medical teams also will provide specialized medical equipment such as walkers, nebulizers, diabetes strips, and testers as requested while discerning other areas of needed support.

Kits will be delivered to the United Way’s Salem office and distributed to the evacuation centers at the Oregon State Fairgrounds and Deschutes County Fairgrounds.

“We so appreciate our compassionate corporate partners, Reser’s Fine Foods, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, and A-dec, who have come together to help displaced Oregonians,” said Debra Hirsh, Medical Teams’ director of corporate and foundation relations.

“These companies have longstanding relationships with Medical Teams and have a history of responding to needs in our community. In this time of great crisis, they have responded yet again,” said Hirsh.

“A-dec has been a longtime supporter of Medical Teams International. Both A-dec and Medical Teams have a mission to support our communities,” said Marv Nelson, A-dec executive vice president and chief operational officer.

“We are proud to partner with Medical Teams International to support those who have been affected by the tragic fires. Our thoughts go out to those families who have lost loved ones, been evacuated, or lost their homes,” said Nelson.
