The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) inaugurated accredited member Salvatore Lotardo, DDS, as its president during its first ever virtual annual membership meeting on May 20. The AACD also announced the newest members elected to volunteer leadership positions.
Lotardo joined the AACD in 2009 and achieved accreditation in 2014. He has served on the Professional Education Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee. He also now serves as an Accreditation Examiner. He has taught at the AACD’s scientific sessions and as part of its virtual campus. And, he was the host of Dentists at Dinner Talking Dentistry.
Currently, Lotardo is the owner of Bella Smiles Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Roslyn, New York, and a member of the ADA and the American Orthodontic Society. He also is an adjunct professor at Briarcliffe College.
The candidates for the leadership positions completed an application and interview process that included questions about how they approach fulfilling obligations, how they plan on relating to the membership, and how their interests and expertise align with the AACD’s core purpose.
The AACD Board of Directors now includes:
- Vice president Marilyn R. Calvo, DDS
- Accredited member Priya S. Tirumalasetty, DDS
- Corporate member Chet C. Spivey
- University member John R. Calamia, DMD
- General member Errin DePalma, DDS
The American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry now includes Steven B. Andreaus, DDS, Steve D. Hoofard, CDT, and Cappy Sinclair, DDS. The Nominating and Leadership Development Committee now includes Georgia Haddad, DDS.
