The Academy of Osseointegration (AO) has cancelled its Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for March 18 to March 21 in Seattle.
“AO has been monitoring the coronavirus situation with the health, safety, and well-being of our guests in mind,” said Jay P. Malmquist, DMD, AO president.
The AO says that its Board of Directors consulted with speakers, vendors, exhibitors, and other meeting participants in addition to gathering information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Washington State Department of Health, the King County Department of Public Health, and other authorities before making the decision.
“Ultimately, the global nature of our meeting, rapidly escalating health concerns regarding the coronavirus, and ongoing travel and other restrictions made it impossible for us to hold the meeting at this time,” Malmquist said.
The AO urges those who were planning on attending the meeting to expedite their flight and hotel cancellations and contact the hotel directly to cancel their room reservations. Also, all registration fees will be fully refunded, with emails confirming refund processing by the end of March.
