The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) has named Stephen I. Hudis, DDS, president for the next one-year term. The ACP also has named Lars Bouma, DDS, MS, vice president for the next term.

“I am honored to become president of the college, especially as we celebrate the ACP’s fiftieth anniversary,” said Hudis. “We will recognize our achievements and plan for the future as we advance the specialty.”

“I am grateful to my colleagues for this recognition and look forward to advancing the ACP mission to benefit the profession,” said Bouma.

A member of the ACP since 1980, Hudis joined as a student and later attained his Fellowship. He has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics since 2005 and has served in multiple leadership roles with local and national organizations.

Hudis earned his DDS and his certificate in prosthodontics from the New York University College of Dentistry. He completed his general practice residency at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. He also holds a BA in music from the New England Conservatory of Music.

“I am an artist at heart,” he said. “Before I decided to pursue dentistry as a career, I was a professional musician. Prosthodontics gives me the opportunity to combine art, science, and technology.”

Bouma received his DDS from the Baylor College of Dentistry and completed his general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He also holds an MS from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

During an 11-year career in the Air Force Dental Corps, Bouma completed his prosthodontic residency and held various leadership positions. He now works full time in private practice in prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Oklahoma City.

Bouma also has served on the ACP Board of Directors. He holds an academic appointment with the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. And, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the ACP as well.
