Mark your calendars and shine your cowboy boots. The Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF) has scheduled its Round Up & Gala: Deep in the Giving Heart of Texas for Saturday, April 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. The group expects approximately 500 members of the dental community to join in the festivities.
Serving 5 counties in the Lone Star State, the CADF has treated thousands of poor and disabled patients with more than $1 million in donated care from more than 100 dentists and partner organizations since its inception in 2008. It also recently received a grant from the Austin Community Foundation to expand its programs.
The Gala will feature a performance from Dale Watson & His Lone Stars, in addition to prizes, live and silent auctions, a casino, and other surprises. Sponsorship levels ranging from “One Pair” at $1,000 to a “Royal Flush” at $10,000 also are available for attendees and organizations that want to support the CADF’s efforts.
“Volunteering, whether it is donating services or fundraising for charity, is truly my pleasure,” said Dr. Danny Watts, founder of Pediatric Dental Professionals and the CADF’s latest Volunteer of the Quarter. He works with HeartGift to provide dental care to children with serious heart conditions. “It is an honor to volunteer for and serve the community which has given so much to me.”
“We are lucky to live in a community that understands the importance of oral health and what can happen when people go without the care they need,” said C. Leonard Dolce, DDS, founder of the CADF. “Our goal at CADF is not to duplicate what other great organizations are doing, but to identify unmet needs and strategically align our programs and resources to meet those needs.”
Last year, the CADF treated 750 patients who were in pain, couldn’t eat, or were too embarrassed to smile. According to the group, every $500 in donations can be used to treat 3 different patients. The CADF is the philanthropic arm of the Capital Area Dental Society.
