The American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM) has partnered with the Smiles for Life Foundation to develop the Everyone Deserves to Smile (EDTS) campaign to improve access to dental care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

EDTS is a charitable partnership that brings together AADOM, the Smiles for Life Foundation, corporate supporters, and dental practice managers.

“Children and adults with intellectual disabilities are the most medically and dentally underserved population in this country and throughout the world,” said Dr. Steven Perlman, global clinical director and founder of Special Olympics Special Smiles. “Access to and the ability to receive oral health services are the number one healthcare problem they face.”

When a dental manager joins AADOM before June 30, 2021, up to $100 will be donated to fund special projects in support of access to dental care for people with IDD. AADOM will donate $50, plus up to $50 will be donated through a matching program with its partners.

AADOM was inspired to launch the campaign after one of its members passed away, and that member’s family expressed a desire for donations to be made to a favorite charity that provides support for people with IDD.
