The American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation (ACPEF) has named Stephen D. Campbell, DDS, MMSc, the winner of its 2018 Founders Society Award, which recognizes those who have had a significant impact on the growth and development of the organization, which secures resources to advance the specialty.
“I am honored by this very kind recognition,” said Campbell. “This award reflects the importance of relationships, and I am deeply appreciative of the incredible individuals I have had the opportunity to share this journey with. To all those that have worked so tirelessly to make a difference for our patients and communities, thank you!”
Campbell served on the ACPEF Board of Directors for more than 12 years, including time as chair, and led fundraising initiatives that secured resources for pivotal projects, the ACPEF reports. This includes the Digital Dentistry Curriculum initiative, implant education, and advocacy for dental specialty residents, faculty, and private practitioners.
“Dr. Campbell has had a significant role in making the Foundation an institution that our donors, members, and corporate partners are proud to support,” said Leonard Kobren, DDS, chair of the ACPEF.
Campbell is director of the Implant and Innovations Center and of the Center for Digital Excellence at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he also served as head of the Department of Restorative Dentistry from 1992 to 2018. He is a past president of the American College of Prosthodontics and the American Board of Prosthodontics as well.
