(Chicago: October, 2012) The combined contributions of 3M ESPE and the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) will send one lucky dental assisting student to this year’s American Dental Association convention held in conjunction with the ADAA.
Ms. Katie Harstine of Glendora, Calfiornia has served as president of the student chapter of the ADAA at Citrus College in Glendora where she organized monthly meetings, helped promote fundraising and promoted student involvement while studying dental assisting. She recently received her certificate of completion in dental assisting and is working as a Registered Dental Assistant in the practice of Dr. Mark A. Wong, Covina.
As nominee for the position of national student trustee, Katie was selected by the ADAA to benefit from a grant in memory of 2001 ADAA President Anna Nelson through attendance and participation at the forthcoming conventions of ADA and ADAA in San Francisco in October. The cost of travel expenses will be funded in their entirety by 3M ESPE with ADAA providing registration coverage.
3M ESPE has supported dental assisting through continued support of the ADAA Foundation. The Foundation is devoted to education and research enhancing the dental assisting profession.
The ADAA is America’s oldest and largest dental assisting association serving an estimated 250,000 dental assistants in the United States. It is dedicated to the development and recognition of professionalism through education, membership services and public awareness programs. The ADAA is a strong advocate for legislation mandating credentialing for clinical dental assistants and greater recognition of the assistant’s role in the professional dental team.
