According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, with over 230,000 cases diagnosed per year. Although women are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer, men are also at risk with an estimated 2,360 new cases diagnosed among men in 2014 alone. Breast cancer affects people of all ages and gender, and although rates of incidence have been decreasing over the past decade due to increased awareness and early detection, there is still much to do to protect our future generations (ACS Website).
DenMat – manufacturer of PeriOptix Loupes and the Flashlite LED curing light–are well aware of these statistics and decided to contribute a portion of their October sales from this year’s Annual American Dental Association meeting in San Antonio, TX as well as a portion of sales from the special pink-themed loupes and curing lights released in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. DenMat’s donation of $6,000 is being made to Lompoc Valley Medical Center in Lompoc, CA for the advancement of breast health, including a free mammogram program for low-income residents. DenMat is grateful as a company to be able to assist the community in the development of a cancer screening facility that will continue to spread awareness and prevent deaths from breast cancer.
DenMat knows that early detection is one of the most important factors in the fight against all types of cancer. We are proud to manage and supply VELscope Vx, the world-wide leader in discovering oral tissue abnormalities. Through this product, patients receive a less invasive and potentially life-saving service that continues to help reduce oral cancer death percentages all over the world. DenMat looks forward to continue supporting the fight against all types of cancer through our products by providing awareness and generating donations.
