Allcare Dental, which abruptly closed last week, is nearing agreements with other dentists in many of the cities where it had offices, according to the company’s Web site.
Former patients in Syracuse, N.Y., Iowa, and Ohio now have dentists who will complete the work or perform the scheduled work these patients were to have. Allcare is instructing people with dental emergencies to visit the nearest emergency room or call 911.
According to the company’s Web site, “Allcare is close to entering into written agreements with dentists in numerous cities and states where Allcare has offices. Those agreements will help maintain continuity of care for Allcare’s patients. Allcare’s attorney is working out the final details of uniform terms that will be used for those written agreements aimed at protecting all involved, while complying with applicable laws and rules.
The statement continues and said: “Before any additional written agreements are signed and entered into by Allcare with the numerous dentists who appear interested in taking custody of Allcare’s patient records, Allcare wants to share the uniform terms of those agreements with State regulators to elicit any concerns they may have. Unfortunately, that did not occur over the weekend due to limited access to State regulators. Allcare hopes to have a number of written agreements signed and ready for implementation on January 10th and 11th, with even more by the end of the week. This, however, doesn’t account for the people who paid for dental work in advance, yet never received the work. These situations remain unresolved at this point.
The patients who need their dental work transferred are relying on state agencies and dentists to step up to give these people the care they need.
Before Allcare closed its doors, it had 52 locations and employed more than 700 people in 15 states.
