Aside from showcasing new AI-enhanced workflows for efficiency and patient care, Dentsply Sirona also moved the needle for more sustainable dental practices at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany, which took place from March 25 through March 29.

Guided by the slogan “Experience the Power of Connected Dentistry,” Dentsply Sirona—the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies—made a powerful impact at IDS 2025. In addition to demonstrating how dental professionals can reach new standards for efficiency and patient care with a new generation of AI-powered products fueled by cloud-based collaboration, the company also highlighted its commitment to advancing sustainability in dentistry.
In line with its sustainability program, BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World, the company focused on reducing the environmental footprint associated with its presence at major events. Dentsply Sirona constructed its booth using recyclable and reusable materials, including walls and furniture. A special interactive stand showcased its latest sustainability initiative—more sustainable packaging.
Inclusivity and accessibility were also prioritized. A dedicated tour was organized for deaf dental technicians, supported by sign language interpreters. The tour featured a live demo of Primescan 2—the first cloud-native intraoral scanning solution—and the company’s DS Core platform, highlighting the latest advancements in digital dentistry.
Finally, a fundraiser for Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, was hosted at the booth, supporting increased access to oral care for underserved communities and helping to create healthy smiles.
Sustainable Packaging Activation at IDS
“As a company that produces millions of products annually for dental practices worldwide, we are well-positioned to drive meaningful change in our industry. By continually evolving our packaging design and material choices, we strive to make our packaging more environmentally friendly and recyclable by 2030. This will have a ripple effect on dental professionals all around the world, empowering them in turn to reduce their environmental footprint,” explained Tony Johnson, SVP, chief supply chain officer and executive sponsor for ESG at Dentsply Sirona.
To share its commitment with IDS 2025 visitors and elaborate on its plan of action, Dentsply Sirona invited attendees to visit its Sustainable Packaging Activation Booth. In addition to exploring what more sustainable packaging solutions could look like, visitors were encouraged to provide feedback on the sustainability solutions most relevant to them via a short digital questionnaire. For every completed questionnaire, Dentsply Sirona pledged to donate €25 to Smile Train in support of life-changing cleft surgeries.
Creating Healthy Smiles – Supporting Cleft Surgeries with Smile Train
Beyond the donations tied to the Sustainable Packaging questionnaire, Dentsply Sirona announced that it would donate up to €100,000 to Smile Train, contributing:
- €25 for every scan taken with Primescan 2 in two dedicated scan areas.
- €5 for every product purchased through Dentsply Sirona’s IDS promotional program.
Since its partnership with Smile Train began in 2021, Dentsply Sirona has funded more than 5,500 cleft surgeries across 18 countries.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited our Sustainable Packaging Activation Booth and participated in our Smile Train fundraiser. Together, we can create a brighter world and healthier smiles,” said Tony Johnson.
