Dentsply Sirona has donated to the ADA Foundation to support the group’s Emergency Disaster Grant Program, now serving dentists impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. The company presented its donation during the ADA Foundation’s board meeting in Chicago on September 19.
The Emergency Disaster Grant Program provides immediate financial assistance to eligible dentists who are victims of a disaster. Grants of up to $2,000 only can be used for urgent needs such as food, water, clothing, blankets, medical supplies, shelter, and toiletries. Any dentist who is a victim of a disaster may apply through the ADA Foundation website. Also, the program is welcoming donations from other members of the dental community who want to help.
“Dentsply Sirona cares deeply about the dental community, and recent hurricanes and natural disasters have had a devastating effect on many dentist colleagues. As a member of the ADA Foundation Board of Directors, I am confident that their Emergency Disaster Grant Program would be a great way to provide immediate financial assistance relief for affected dentists,” said Teresa A. Dolan, DDS, MPH, vice president and chief clinical officer at Dentsply Sirona.
In addition to the Emergency Disaster Grant Program, the ADA Foundation’s Emergency Disaster Grants for 501(c)(3) Organizations Providing Dental Care Following a Disaster helps groups provide care to members of the public in disaster-affected areas. These programs are not associated with any particular disaster but have been running as part of the ADA Foundation’s programs for many years.
“I am so glad that as a company we are able to support the ADA Foundation in its effort to help dentists currently in need of assistance so that they will be able to return to helping patients,” said Michael Augins, group senior vice president of the US commercial organization at Dentsply Sirona. “I’m also confident that the people and communities affected by the recent storms will rebuild stronger than ever.”
