Dentsply Sirona’s International Special Clinic Solutions (ISCS) division has provided the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry with a simulation and technology lab for preclinical education, including 109 Intego simulator units and a pair of instructor units.
The upgraded training labs allow students to learn and practice in a realistic clinical setting, as all dental procedures can be simulated under ergonomic conditions with correct instrumentation technique, according to the company.
The workstation configurations are designed for flexibility, such as switching from right-handed treatments to left-handed. These modular units also suit UMKC dental and dental hygiene curricula and can be updated with new functions and technologies as they are developed.
“The planning and research process were crucial to the success of this project at UMKC,” said Peter Rössling, Dentsply Sirona sales director of ISCS USA/Canada.
“Working closely with the university leaders to map their ideas and visions for the upcoming years allowed us to deliver an individually tailored product and training portfolio from start to finish,” Rössling said.
“This is our first simulator installation of its kind in the US, and we look forward to bringing our technology to more students in the country,” said Rössling.
