Dr. Teresa A. Dolan, vice president and chief clinical officer at Dentsply Sirona, received the Innovator Award for Excellence in Industry from the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund during the Shils Stars Annual Dental Student Entrepreneur Competition & Innovator Awards reception at the New York University College of Dentistry on October 16.
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of Dentsply Sirona’s global Clinical Affairs team,” said Dolan. “We are proud to have successfully implemented one of the most comprehensive and in-demand clinical education programs in the dental industry and pleased to see that a growing number of dental professionals is taking advantage of and being empowered by our training offerings.”
In 2018, more than 432,000 dental professionals from 99 countries participated in the Dentsply Sirona clinical education program, which supports the implementation of innovative solutions and empowers dentists, technicians, and dental team members to improve dental care and oral health, Dentsply Sirona says.
Key course topics include endodontics, implant dentistry, and restorative dentistry, according to the company. The program includes live lectures and product training as well as active learning and engagement methods, Dentsply Sirona says, including simulated and patient demonstrations of procedures and workflows.
Dolan has been leading the Clinical Affairs team since 2013, after serving as professor and dean of the University College of Dentistry, Florida, from 2003 to 2013. As chief clinical officer, she provides strategic direction for professional education activities in accordance with ADA CERP standards and guidelines. She is a member of the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund board of directors as well.
