Dr. Nadeem Y. Karimbux Named Editor of the Journal of Dental Education

WASHINGTON, April 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Board of Directors of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) has named Nadeem Y. Karimbux, D.M.D., M.M.Sc., Editor of the Journal of Dental Education (JDE), effective July 1, 2012. Dr. Karimbux is an Associate Professor of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity, as well as Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Advanced Graduate Program Director in Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He was the Associate Editor for the Association of American Medical Colleges MedEdPORTAL, representing ADEA from 2008 to present. Dr. Karimbux previously served on the JDE’s Editorial Review Board, is online editor of the textbook Clinical Periodontology, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Periodontology. Additionally, Dr. Karimbux has been a peer reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Dental Research, the Archives of Oral Biology, and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has held several editor, associate editor, and editorial board positions with the American/International Association for Dental Research, the International Journal of Contemporary Medicine, and the Journal of Periodontology.

In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Karimbux has made major contributions in research to the specialty of periodontology and problem-based learning in dental education. A board-certified periodontist, he practices periodontology at the Harvard Dental Center and at Children’s Hospital Boston. Dr. Karimbux has been a member of ADEA since 1996. He served on the ADEA Council of Faculties both as a member and on its Administrative Board. Dr. Karimbux holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and a Master’s of Medical Science in Oral Biology with a Certificate in Periodontology from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
