Zahn Dental, which is Henry Schein’s laboratory supply business, has acquired Custom Automated Prosthetics (CAP), which is a digital laboratory supply company that serves dental labs in the United States. According to Henry Schein, the acquisition will enable the company to provide a full suite of innovative, interoperable solutions, services, and support that meet the individual needs of dental laboratory customers.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Stoneham, Mass, CAP had approximately $30 million in sales in 2015. With 60 employees, it offers CAD/CAM equipment including integrated milling systems, scanners and printers, and a full line of zirconia materials. Its milling center features crowns, bridges, models, surgical guides, and design services. CAP cofounder and president Bob Cohen and cofounder and CEO Rob Nazzal will join Henry Schein.

“CAP is a successful digital solutions provider to the dental laboratory market, and their business is highly complementary to our Zahn Dental and Custom Milling Center business. CAP will bring to Henry Schein a highly trained and experienced customer service and training support team,” said Stanley M. Bergman, chairman of the board and CEO at Henry Schein.

“In offering core laboratory products, digital products, and milling services, Henry Schein will strengthen its relationships with dental laboratory customers, as well as with our laboratory supplier partners, as we continue to lead the transition to digital dental technology,” Bergman said. “We welcome Bob, Rob, and their colleagues to Team Schein.”
