Henry Schein Teams Up With ADAF for Children’s Oral Health
Last week, to kick off the 15th annual Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program—an ADA Foundation (ADAF) initiative through which dental teams volunteer to provide free oral healthcare to children across the United States—Henry Schein opened the Nasdaq Stock Market. Henry Schein chairman of the board and chief executive officer Stanley M. Bergman was joined at the bell-ringing ceremony by ADA president Dr. Gary Roberts, ADAF President Dr. Bill Calnon, and Nasdaq Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Skule.
Just after the opening bell, Dr. Bill Calnon spoke with us about the experience, as well as what the ADAF has planned for national children’s dental health month. On the 15th anniversary of GKAS, he reflects on what the program has done and how it has grown throughout the years. With thousands of children across the country not receiving the oral care they need, Dr. Calnon says that education is key.
Henry Schein has served the official professional products sponsor for GKAS since the ADA launched the program nationally in 2003 to help raise awareness of the critical need to expand access to oral healthcare for children in the United States. Since the program’s inception, Henry Schein, together with its supplier partners, has donated more than $15 million in oral health care products used to provide free oral health services for more than 5.5 million children.
In this video interview, Dr. Calnon stresses the importance of children’s oral health, not just in the month of February, but all year long. He also offers some ways that dentists anywhere in the country can get involved.
