MicroDental Laboratories and Modern Dental USA have named Laura Kelly CEO for their operations in North American and Canada. She will be responsible for developing and growing comprehensive laboratory prosthodontic processes and solutions, business expansion, and new market education and communication for both brands. Reporting to Godfrey Ngai, director and CEO of Modern Dental Group, she will be based at MicroDental Laboratories in Livermore, California.
“I am honored and privileged to return home to the very place that launched so many opportunities for me to contribute to this amazing profession,” said Kelly, who began as an entry-level technician at MicroDental. “I look forward to aligning the dedicated and skilled technician families at MicroDental and Modern Dental to support the dental community through close partnerships, education, and ongoing product advancements that ultimately help to enhance oral health, function, and smile aesthetics.”
In 1993, Kelly was one of the first dental technicians to achieve accreditation from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). In 2006, she was elected president of the AACD, and she currently is a member of the Past President’s Advisory Council. She also has served as secretary of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry and as vice president and senior vice president of various dental laboratories, including MicroDental from 1995 to 2001 and LK Dental Studios, which she established in 2008.
