Kulzer has appointed Marc Berendes its new chief executive officer (CEO), replacing Akira Misawa, who is returning to Japan to continue to serve the company after overseeing its integration into the Japanese Mitsui Chemicals (MCI) group. Also, Hiromi Hayashida and Stefan Klomann are joining the company’s Board of Management.

Berendes, who also was a member of the Board of Management, was elected to the CEO position to ensure continuity. He has been Kulzer’s chief scientific officer (CSO) since 2016 and is familiar with the company and the dental industry.

As CSO, Berendes was responsible for sales, service, and marketing. As CEO, he will focus Kulzer on supporting its customers in optimizing the workflows in dental offices and laboratories. A faster time to market for product innovations is an additional objective. And, he aims to expand business in the Middle East, South America, and Asia as well as the Kulzer Service offering.

“We will further develop our vision to be the lifetime partner of our customers. We will focus innovation in those areas that maximize productivity gains for dentists and dental technicians and create the solutions and services that help our customers restore patients’ oral health,” said Berendes.

As senior executive vice president, Hayashida will be responsible for legal, regulatory affairs, quality, and global safety management. He also will play an important role in maximizing the potential synergies that exist between Kulzer and MCI.

Hayashida has been part of the Kulzer North American management team since 2017. He has been with MCI since 1989 and holds a degree in chemical engineering. Also, he has held different international management assignments in the MCI group, mostly in the United States.

Klomann will join the company on July 16 and serve as chief marketing officer, with responsibility over the marketing group. He has many years of experience in marketing, Kulzer reports, with senior leadership positions at renowned dental companies.
