Dr. Tanaka is a clinical professor in graduate prosthodontics at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and maintains a private practice in prosthodontics in Chula Vista, Calif. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain; a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and American Equilibration Society; and a Master in the AGD. He also holds Fellowships in the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI) and both the American and International Colleges of Dentists, and he is a past president of the ADI. He is recognized internationally for his practical and scientific approach to head and neck pain disorders that affect dental procedures. His hands-on workshops and anatomical fresh dissection classes of the head, neck, and temporomandibular (TM) joint are known internationally. He has lectured extensively, and his educational videos on implants, restorative procedures, TM dysfunction, and anatomy are used in more than 94 medical and dental schools and surgery programs worldwide. (Many have been translated into Japanese.) He has received many teaching awards and in 2012 was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Gold Medal for his efforts in dental education. |
