SOUTH JORDAN, Utah October 15 2010 – The Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics (PCSO) recognized two Opal Orthodontics advisory board members during the annual session in Honolulu this week.  PCSO board members honored Drs. Terry McDonald and Rick McLaughlin individually for their achievements and contributions to the PCSO and the specialty of orthodontics.

PCSO, the largest constituent of the American Academy of Orthodontists, was founded in 1917 and consists of approximately 3000 members.  PCSO board members selected Dr. Terry McDonald as the new recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Established in 2005, the Lifetime Achievement Award represents “exceptional personal effort by a PCSO member to advance the art and science of the orthodontic specialty”.  Dr. McDonald is the 3rd recipient of this award, preceded by Dr. Larry Andrews, “Father of the Straightwire Appliance”, and Dr. Art Dugoni, the longest-serving dental school dean in the nation.

Dr. Rick McLaughlin was recognized with an Award of Merit by the PCSO.  This award was established in 1987 to honor those within the geographic boundaries of the PCSO who have made a significant contribution to the profession of orthodontics.
