Dental precision instrument and device manufacturer W&H has acquired Osstell, whose products are designed to make dental implant treatments safer and more predictable by measuring implant stability objectively and non-invasively using the Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ), helping clinicians improve patient confidence and comfort. Founded in 1999, Osstell developed the patented ISQ technology.

“Osstell and W&H have cooperated very successfully in the past, so it is a natural step that Osstell now becomes a part of W&H. As such, we get the opportunity for stronger and broader global representation, as well as greater delivery capacity, always with the aim to serve our customers and users with even better products and services as well as helping them to provide best practice services to their customers—the patients. Patients’ well-being is always the top priority,” said Jonas Ehinger, Osstell CEO.

“The aim is to further expand our expertise and thus strengthen our position as a specialist in oral implantology. The specialized company with its structure fits perfectly to the character of a family business, which is why we are confident that Osstell is a good fit and will become a valuable member of our W&H family,” said Peter Malata, W&H president and CEO.

The Osstell technology is now available in a range of products including W&H’s latest generation Implantmed. The ISQ measurements allow clinicians working with implants to make decisions based on reliable and objective stability values when determining the course of treatment for each patient. This procedure can be used to measure primary implant stability, observe osseointegration based on secondary stability readings, and determine the best possible time for loading the implant, helping to prevent failures and ensure high quality.
