The Carestream Dental Evo Editions are compact yet powerful panoramic and CBCT versions of the CS 8100 and CS 8100 3D imaging systems with advanced software updates that provide enhanced images and new tools for more confident diagnoses, according to the company.
“We’ve found that data is what makes the difference when diagnosing,” said Carestream Dental chief dental officer Ed Shellard, DMD. “By focusing on new software and improved algorithms, we can deliver impactful updates to doctors without having to completely redesign equipment or ask doctors to invest in a new extraoral system every few years.”
The CS 8100 Evo Edition and CS 8100SC Evo Edition software updates produce enhance images thanks to Tomosharp technology, Carestream says, which delivers best-in-class imaging and greater tolerance to imperfect positioning.
The entire jaw anatomy is captured in a single acquisition. Then, algorithms analyze the area where the anatomy is sharpest and reconstruct the best panoramic image automatically for a sharp image.
Plus, the CS Adapt Anatomic family of filters delivers a new processing engine for outstanding panoramic and cephalometric images, Carestream said.
The Evo Editions additionally provide access to the same high-end features available on Carestream’s flagship CS 9600 CBCT system.
CS MAR is designed to greatly reduce metal artifacts and starburst effects that can be distracting and can make viewing an area of interest difficult. Instead, the CS MAR filter provides a clearer view for greater diagnostic confidence, the company said. Users can even use a live comparison tool to toggle back and forth between views with and without CS MAR to help them confirm diagnosis.
Also, Advanced Noise Reduction (ANR) reduces noise while preserving image details. It is ideal for 75-µm resolution scans and improves small details like a lateral canal or crack as well as the perception of cortical bone edge, ligament space, and soft tissues, according to the company.
The Evo Editions include all of the same features as the CS 8100 system, including its compact footprint and image quality, Carestream said. Each model is supported by CS Imaging version 8, which centralizes and displays all 2-D images, 3-D images, and CAD/CAM data in one software to aid in more comprehensive diagnoses, optimized treatment workflows, and enhanced case presentation.
Clinicians who already own a CS 8100 or CS 8100 3D system can upgrade their existing technology to experience the benefits of the Evo Editions, the company said.
