Dentsply Sirona OrthodonticsOvation S clear brackets are made out of a specially formulated material designed to offer a combination of clarity and strength, second in hardness only to diamond, that traditional ceramics cannot match.

“Clear braces are traditionally made from ceramics, porcelain, or plastic. But many of these materials have durability or aesthetic shortcomings,” said John Piervencenti, senior product manager. “New Ovation S brackets offer a level of optical clarity and molecular strength that ordinary clear braces cannot match. Once they’ve been bonded, Ovation S braces offer an aesthetic experience that rivals clear aligners.”

The aesthetics are unique in how the material lets the natural color of the teeth shine through, making the brackets all but invisible, the company says. Plus, the high-tech finish minimizes the reflection issue that traditional ceramic brackets suffer from while providing a powerful barrier against stains, Dentsply Sirona Orthodontics says.

Manufactured using the latest in ceramic injection molding technology, the unique molecular structure, state-of-the-art finish, and triple chamfered slot reduce friction by 41% compared to traditional ceramics, according to the company. This allows for the smooth, steady movement of archwires without binding or crimping to maximize patient comfort.

The smooth, rounded hooks on each bracket are designed for added patient comfort and secure engagement of elastics. The smooth, rounded edges are designed for patient comfort as well. The bracket’s 100% mechanical base provides reliable bonding and consistent debonding, the company reports.

Also, because of the strength of the material, the brackets can be made smaller and with a lower profile for a more comfortable patient experience, Dentsply Sirona Orthodontics says. Brackets are available in Base and Euro prescriptions in slot sizes .022 and .018 and with hooks on 3, 4, and 5.
