Motion View has certified scans captured by Carestream Dental’s CS 3600 intraoral scanner for use with its Ortho Insight 3D software in treatment planning and appliance fabrication.

“The orthodontic business is ever-changing, so it is important that clinicians have options when it comes to the appliance fabrication process,” said Matt Hendrickson, specialty business director at Carestream Dental. “We are excited to be able to offer our customers another certified option to adapt to the exciting changes taking place in the market.”

The CS 3600’s high-speed, continuous scanning is designed for the seamless capture of dual arches for orthodontic applications. Its Intelligent Matching System enables users to fill in any missing information in the data set, and the CS 3600’s three interchangeable tips—normal, side-oriented, and posterior—make scanning in hard to reach places easier, Carestream says.

After scanning, clinicians can then choose to import the STL files of the digital impression to Ortho Insight 3D for making 3D digital study models, model analyses, aligner setups, treatment plans for precision bracket placement, and transfer trays.

“We’ve tested Ortho Insight 3D software with intraoral scans from the CS 3600 in multiple practices and found it to work very well for aligner and indirect bonding tray fabrication,” said Dan Knoch, founder and CEO of Motion View.

“Ortho Insight 3D software is designed with a special function for importing intraoral scans to make the process fast and easy. Ready acceptance of the CS 3600’s intraoral scans gives orthodontists and their teams another benefit of using Ortho Insight 3D software in a wide range of cases, including aligner therapy and the precision bracket placement required for indirect bonding,” Knoch said.

“From simple tooth movement to complex treatment scenarios, the STL files of intraoral scans from the CS 3600 provide the starting place for users of Ortho Insight 3D software to design and implement accurate and effective treatment of their patients,” Knoch said.
