Dürr Dental’s Tyscor VS 4 suction unit has won the award for Excellent Product Design—Medical Rehabilitation and Health Care as part of the 2020 German Design Awards. Suction units can play a key role in infection control in dental offices, the company said, as they remove potentially contaminated aerosols and prevent them from spreading.
The Tyscor VS 4 offers 300 liters a minute of suction power and uses 50% of the energy of competing models, according to the company. Plus, its two suction stages make it safe and reliable to operate, Dürr Dental said, while its sound-absorbing housing and smooth-running engineering make Tyscor systems the quietest in their class.
Also, the Tyscor VS 4 features a standard network connection so it is plug-and-play ready, the company said. It is designed to be integrated into the digital monitoring and controlling of practice supply systems via its software, so staff always knows its status.
The German Design Award is awarded by the German Design Council, a not-for-profit body founded in 1953 by the German Parliament to promote design in a way that enhances the value of brands.
“Our high-performance suction units enjoy universal recognition and popularity among dental experts. Using our suction units cuts down on aerosol formation, significantly reducing the risk of infection for both the practice team and the patient,” said Martin Dürrstein, CEO of Dürr Dental.
