The Oral-B iO electric toothbrush uses a frictionless magnetic drive to distribute energy more efficiently to the tips of its bristles for a smooth and quiet cleaning experience. The redesigned iO brush head also combines oscillating and cleaning motions with micro-vibrations for a professional clean feel that reaches every contour, Oral-B says. Plus, its twisted bristles are reinforced with a high-density tuft-in-tuft configuration to improve the brushing experience.
The iO also uses a bimodal smart pressure sensor to monitor brushing and provide feedback, guiding users to brush in the optimal pressure range. Its variable-speed smart drive adjusts frequency to protect the gums and enamel. An intuitive smart display with up to seven personalized brushing modes greets users and provides coaching and motivation throughout the brushing process.
And, the iO App uses artificial intelligence to provide real-time individual tracking and coaching informed by thousands of recorded brushing sessions. The user interface guides brushers through a two-minute brushing session with 3-D teeth tracking to ensure a professional clean feeling every time, Oral-B says.
Compared to manual toothbrushes, iO users experienced 100% healthier gums in just one week, with six times more plaque removal along the gumline, Oral-B says. Also, 83% of gingivitis patients moved from unhealthy to healthy gums in eight weeks, according to the company. The iO was named one of this year’s CES Innovation Award Honorees during the International Consumer Electronics Show as well. It will be available beginning in August 2020.
