The PrepStart H2O from Zest Dental Solutions (Danville Materials) sprays a conical jet of water surrounding the abrasive stream, capturing virtually all the dust. The water tank is removable for easy filling. It’s available as a complete or easily retrofitted accessory for all existing PrepStarts.
This portable, self-contained, pneumatically powered device is similar to dental air abrasion equipment, as it uses aluminum oxide particles. However, it adds a water spray to the cutting process to eliminate the objectionable powder plume created by air abrasion.
The unit is indicated for cutting and preparing tooth structure, both enamel and dentin for all classes of cavity preparation, removal of composite resin restorations, and surface roughening of enamel, dentin, and metal dental structures prior to adhesive resin bonding. It is not recommended for use on amalgam fillings.
