The Veraview X800 from J. Morita USA is now available in Canada. The multifunctional unit offers progressive technology that automatically sets the optimal x-ray beam angle, horizontal for 3-D or raised 5° for 2-D panoramic images. This slight upward projection enhances image quality by eliminating potential super-imposition of anatomical structures, the company reports, including the shadow from the base of the skull and hard palate over the maxillary teeth. For 3-D imaging, a horizontal beam minimizes distortion and reduces metal artifacts.
CBCT imaging clarity also has been improved, with a reduced voxel size of 80 µm and 2.5-LP/mm resolution, which Morita calls outstanding for a multifunctional unit. The X800 offers up to 11 fields of view (FOV) covering dental and maxillofacial areas. It also boasts Morita’s completely exclusive 3-D Reuleaux Full Arch FOV. Its unique shape closely matches the shape of the natural dental arch, reducing dose by excluding areas outside the region of interest.
If a larger field of view is acquired and there is a need to increase the resolution in a selected part of the scan, the X800 can reconstruct that region at the highest resolution of 80 µm without repeating the scan, saving the patient from unnecessary retakes. Also, two 3-D exposure modes offer more control and flexibility regarding acquisition time and resolution with 360° or 180° rotation.
The X800 targets oral and maxillofacial surgery, implantology, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, and general dentistry. It also features partial panoramic/cephalometric images, an external bitewing module, adjustable chinrest height for easy and accurate patient positioning, and i-Dixel 2.0 3-D imaging software with a DICOM export function.
