TheraBase from Bisco Dental Products is a dual-cured, calcium- and fluoride-releasing self-adhesive base/liner. It contains MDP, chemically bonds to tooth structure, and utilizes THERA technology. It is radiopaque, allowing for effective identification on radiographs. Its dual-cure ability ensures the material will cure even in deep restorations where light cannot reach. Plus, its calcium release generates an alkaline pH that promotes pulp vitality, according to Bisco.

TheraBase is stronger and more durable than other base materials, glass ionomers, and resin-modified glass ionomers, the company said. One 8-g syringe of TheraBase provides about 27 to 29 base applications. Clinicians dispense TheraBase and either light cure for 20 seconds or allow to self-cure before finishing the restoration.
