Planmeca and CephX Technologies LTD have announced the launch of an automatic cephalometric tracing and analysis service for the Planmeca Romexis dental imaging software. The service uses CephX’s AlgoCeph algorithm, an application of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology based on thousands of manually traced cephalometric images.
The integration of AlgoCeph into the Planmeca Romexis software is designed to dramatically streamline orthodontic practitioners’ work. After image capturing in the software is completed, an automatic celphalometric analysis can be ordered with a few clicks and received in seconds. The service also can be used directly online from a dedicated website designed for Planmeca users who have yet to upgrade to Planmeca Romexis software version 4.6.

It also can be used to predict future changes, monitor the success of ongoing treatment plans, evaluate dentofacial proportions, and assist doctors in recognizing abnormalities. According to the companies, that’s why cephalometric analysis is crucial in developing and evaluating proper treatment plans for patients.
