Solmetex LLC has received additional patents for its NXT Amalgam Separator System including one utility patent on the system and two design patents for its dental amalgam separation collection containers. The system removes particles from effluent waste, particularly amalgam and other metallic particles and abrasive solids from dental office effluent.
According to Solmetex, its system has been installed in more than 70,000 dental offices worldwide. It notes that these patents come in advance of the EPA Dental Amalgam Rule, which requires dental practices to install either an ISO 11143:2008 certified amalgam separator or a certified ANSI/ADA Standard No. 108 amalgam separator, both at a separation rate of 95%, such as the Solmetex NXT Hg5 Amalgam Separator System by July 14, 2020.
